Spot welding

What is spot welding?

Spot welding, the most commonly used resistance welding method, is an efficient technique for welding sheet metal materials together. The most common material used in spot welding is sheet metal. It is widely used in various industries, including automotive and white goods manufacturing.

How spot welding works

Two copper rods are used to press the sheets together and pass current through them. The material then melts together at a point, and the current is switched off. The amount of energy released at the point is determined by the strength of the current and how long it is active. These parameters are adjusted depending on the material, the thickness of the plates, their number and the size of the electrodes.
