Laser cutting and waterjet cutting in sheet metal - What's the difference?

The difference between laser cutting and waterjet cutting

Laser cutting and waterjet cutting are two common methods of cutting sheet metal that differ in several ways. Laser cutting uses a concentrated laser beam that heats the material. This method produces a smooth and precise cut with extreme accuracy. Waterjet cutting, on the other hand, uses a high-pressure waterjet mixed with sand. The high pressure of the jet cuts through the sheet metal with a cut surface that is slightly more uneven than the cut made by laser cutting. Waterjet cutting can also be used to process combustible and porous materials.
